On the way home and couldn't help but notice 'want-away' defender of ours at one of the pubs in the market by Victoria Square.

Now how people spend their lives is up to them.

But this was about 5:30 and we'd just had a match that ended just over half an hour ago.

Even if he wants out, even if he doesn't care about the club any more, even if he was injured and not playing, I'm sorry, but on match day, his place should be with the squad and at whatever stadium we're playing at.

Agree totally mate.

The most improved player by a mile... v .....a relic of McLeish who doesn't even want to be here and PLAYS as such.

not ridgewell's biggest fan, don't slate him as much as others, but also don't prefer him to be in the starting 11.

that being said, don't see a huge problem with this.. he was injured and not named in the starting 11 or the bench. Didn't play, don't need to shower or anything after the game.. Hughton probably had a short talk and he went to meet some friends at the pub a half hour later..

his job ends for the day when the game is over. what he does after is no care of mine.

think we as fans get way too emotional one way or another when a player is either playing well, we are totally in love with him and he does no wrong, and when a player is playing bad or misinterpreted in the press, we slate them indefinitely and they can do no right.

judge him for his poor performances, and be happy murphy is playing better than him at the LB position.. but let the man have his personal life

Unless someone can tell me they spotted him at the game, NO WAY could he have made it out of St Andrews, through football traffic, through town traffic, and then through some pretty hefty crowds in the market itself in that amount of time.

No, he was just there.

And I feel that as part of a team, he should be with the team on matchday. It's not a lot to ask given the money he earns.

He can listen to Hughton's team talk which may well apply to him in future games.

He can be around to offer advice to younger players or even just bond with the team afterwards.

I actually wondered if he even knew the result?

If that's the case then do all the first team squad attend every game? Can't see a problem with ridgewell out in the city, he's a blues player and we should support him, that said as much as i rate him as a defender he has been out of sorts lately and Murphy deserves his place in the team, and i hope he stays there for the Burnley game.

Ever thought that Hughton may have told him he did not need to be there, not defending either but unless we know the facts,we really can not have a go at him.

You're right of course, but some people just want to have a moan about Ridgewell and will until he's gone. then they will move onto someone else.

I don't moan about players.

But this case touched a nerve with me.

Sorry but what a load of tosh, if Ridge isn't playing then there is no reason he should hang around after the game. He has a right to a private life the same as everyone and the fact he was here in Brum and not some scensoredy london night club is credit to him.

Sorry but since what has s(w)anky been a swear word?

His local's the Barnt Green Inn, if anyone wants to buy him a drink/punch him/mock him.

I'd personally just say "cheers for your service mate" and that would be that.

My mate who is a wolves fan mentioned this last night, he said that Rooney and a couple of other players were there as well, are they exempted from criticism for the same thing? Funny how fans a lot of the time say that players are out of touch and unapproachable however here we have a group of players mingling in public acting like normal blokes and not up their own a**e! Seems we just have it in for one player at the moment.

I think they know their own bodies better than you Pooley, his got plenty of recovery time and I'm sure knows his limits unlike a few of us probably.

And Lordnewtown, I thought the christmas market was supposed to bring a bit of festive cheer to the city. Cheer up.

Yep. There it is, folks. Proof.

Massive beer-belly on Ridgewell. How dare he drink alcohol, it's clearly affecting his physical fitness.

Utter kill joy rubbish as ever Pooley, why shouldn't players enjoy a sensible drink? Binge drinking certainly not, but a glass of wine with dinner or a couple of pints of an evening wont hurt

What rubbish, reason we reached semi finals in 1990 was due to drink, maybe if capello got the 2010 team smashed a couple of times we may have done well again. capello issued a no drink policy look how well that worked but the italia 90 team went out every night after a game and got knocked out on penalties so dont talk such tripe. drink is fine if its right place right time if the lads have worked all week and its after a match or there not due in why shouldnt they drink.

I think everything just builds up a picture against him, out at the market, the comment on telly etc. The thing is it has all stemmed from one single point, him handing in a transfer request on deadline day. Any player who does that at any club is on to a looser, it gives the fans the impression he isn't dedicated to the club, the cause on the pitch. His performances have only backed that up.

So really, you could argue this it is all of his own doing.
